Teenagers And Stress
Introduction:
Hello Guys,Welcome to my new blog.In this post I am going to tell you about the teenagers and the stress they experience.
What is Stress?
Stress is a mental tension that is caused by taxing, demanding, and burdensome circumstances. Stress affects one's mental stress and mood and has adverse effects on their physical health. When a person is highly stressed, a hormone known as cortisol is released into the bloodstream, suppressing the proper functioning of one's digestive, reproductive, and immune systems.
What is meant by teenager?
A teenager, or teen, is someone who is between 13 and 19 years old. They are called teenagers because their age number ends with “teen”. The word “teenager” is often associated with adolescence. Most neurologists consider the brain still developing into the persons early, or mid-20s.
Note:
Neurologists are specialists who treat diseases of the brain and spinal cord, peripheral nerves and muscles.
Why are teenagers stressed?
Common things that teenagers say cause them stress include:
• homework and school (especially exams)
• expectations and pressure to do well at school from parents and family.
• extracurricular commitments.
• lack of time - having too much to do, feeling unprepared or overwhelmed.
• lack of sleep.
• behaviour of family members towards them is not good.
• the condition at their home is very bad.
Signs of Stress
Common changes can include acting irritable or moody, withdrawing from activities that used to give them pleasure, routinely expressing worries, complaining more than usual about school, crying, displaying surprising fearful reactions, clinging to a parent or teacher, sleeping too much or too little, or eating too much or too little.
Seek Support
Parents, children, and teens do not need to tackle overwhelming stress on their own. If a parent is concerned that his or her child or teen is experiencing significant symptoms of stress on a regular basis, including, but not limited to those described above, it can be helpful to work with a licensed mental health professional, such as a psychologist.
